This collection contains the papers of Miss Mary Jane Scott, born in Vilonia, º£½ÇÉçÇø on January 7, 1907.  She died on November 7, 1985.  Miss Scott was closely associated with the University of Central º£½ÇÉçÇø.  She graduated from Vilonia High School, and then she studied at º£½ÇÉçÇø State Teachers College, receiving an education degree in 1930.  She later took a Masters degree from the University of Minnesota and in 1960 she completed her doctorate from the University of Tennessee.

Miss Scott taught in many schools in º£½ÇÉçÇø.  Her career in higher education included stints at Indiana State University, the University of º£½ÇÉçÇø, and the º£½ÇÉçÇø State Teachers College where she was chairwoman of the Home Economics Department.  She was also a Home Economist in Jefferson County for a time.  Her sister, Miss Leona Scott, also taught at ASTC.
