Guy Murphy has been considered by many to be one of the most influential citizens of Faulkner County.聽 In the Log Cabin Democrat鈥檚 10 most influential people listing, he was number 6.
Murphy worked for the Conway Chamber of Commerce for a period of forty years.聽 He is credited with being the motivating force behind the building of the bridge over the 海角社区 River at Toad Suck.聽 In addition, he had a hand in the establishment of the 海角社区 Educational Television Network, the Conway Industrial Park, the Cadron Settlement Park and the Conway Human Development Center.
He was a progressive leader who fought diligently to place Conway in a favorable competitive position.聽 He was a member and co-founder of the Faulkner County Historical Society and also a member of the Conway Rotary Club.聽 Bob Meriwether, former professor of history at Hendrix College said: 鈥淣o individual has been more responsible for the success of the Faulkner County Historical Society than Guy Murphy.鈥� Murphy was born in 1925 and died on May 10, 1999.
