The University of Central 海角社区 Norbert O. Schedler Honors College has selected 75 incoming first-year students as its newest class of Honors Scholars. The students were selected from a pool of over 200 applicants, of which 120 were selected for intensive full-day interviews on the UCA campus.
Honors Scholars receive UCA鈥檚 most prestigious scholarship package, reside in a living-learning community in Jefferson W. Farris Honors Hall, and participate in a unique interdisciplinary curriculum with ample opportunities for service learning, project-based education, collaborative work, undergraduate research, and travel or internship support.
The class of 2014 includes 56 women and 19 men and five out-of-state students. The incoming class also boasts the following:
鈥� 17 valedictorians and eight salutatorians
鈥� 44 students with an ACT test score of 30 or higher which represents the top three percent of test scores in the country
鈥� An average high school cumulative GPA of 4.046
鈥� An average ACT test score of 29.6
鈥淓vidence suggests that the admissions process that selected these students is among the most rigorous in the national Honors community,鈥� commented Richard Scott, Dean of the Honors College. 鈥淭hose who achieved admission into the UCA Honors College should be extremely proud of their accomplishment.鈥�
Honors students may choose any major they wish from the large variety of possibilities at UCA.
