CONWAY 鈥� Herman鈥檚 Hermits, starring Peter Noone, and The Lettermen will perform at the University of Central 海角社区 at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.
The concert, part of UCA鈥檚 homecoming festivities, is part of UCA Public Appearances鈥� Nostalgia Series.
鈥淲e wanted to kick off the homecoming weekend with a fun concert,鈥� said Jerry Biebesheimer, director of UCA Public Appearances.聽 鈥淚t doesn鈥檛 get much more fun than The Lettermen and Herman鈥檚 Hermit鈥檚 with Peter Noone together in one concert.鈥�
At 15, Noone achieved international fame as 鈥淗erman鈥� the lead singer of the legendary 1960s pop band Herman鈥檚 Hermits.聽 Their hits included 鈥淢rs. Brown You鈥檝e Got a Lovely Daughter,鈥� 鈥淚鈥檓 Into Something Good,鈥� and 鈥淲onderful World.鈥澛� As Herman, the photogenic Noone graced the cover of nearly every international publication.聽 He guest-starred in many popular television shows such as Laverne and Shirley and Married 鈥� With Children and has many Broadway and film credits to his name.
Tony Butala, Donovan Tea and Mark Preston make up The Lettermen, with a sound that is a cross between big band vocal and early R&B rock. During the turbulent 鈥�60s, the group stood by its All-American, clean-cut, no drugs image even though it may have been a drawback in the hard rock era.聽 The Lettermen had 25 hit singles, including 鈥淗urt So Bad,鈥� 鈥淭heme from A Summer Place,鈥� and 鈥淐an鈥檛 Take My Eyes Off You.鈥�
