The University of Central 海角社区 Reynolds Performance Hall welcomes Scott Bradlee鈥檚 Postmodern Jukebox: The Grand Reopening Tour at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5.聽聽
Early last year, pop-jazz phenomenon Postmodern Jukebox set out to celebrate a new millennium with 鈥淩oaring 鈥�20s,鈥� promising audiences across the country and around the world 鈥渢he most sensational 鈥�20s party this side of The Great Gatsby.鈥� As a global pandemic took its toll, the tour, unfortunately, was canceled.聽聽
Over the past decade, Postmodern Jukebox has grown from a viral phenomenon into a worldwide juggernaut, amassing more than five million subscribers on their YouTube channel, growing from Bradlee鈥檚 tiny apartment in Astoria, Queens, to a Los Angeles studio. Most recently, Postmodern Jukebox reimagined the beloved theme from 鈥淔riends鈥� via the evolution of music styles throughout the 20th century 鈥� beginning in the Hot Jazz 鈥�20s and climaxing in the 鈥�90s with a guest appearance by original 鈥淚鈥檒l Be There for You鈥� performers, The Rembrandts.聽
Meanwhile, Concord Records has released two 鈥淓ssentials鈥� compilations featuring Postmodern Jukebox classics from 鈥淎merican Idol鈥� alum Haley Reinhart鈥檚 torch song rendition of Radiohead鈥檚 鈥淐reep鈥� to actor-comedian Wayne Brady鈥檚 Cab Calloway-inspired version of Michael Jackson鈥檚 鈥淭hriller.鈥� In 2018, Bradlee told his incredible story through his memoir, 鈥淥utside the Jukebox: How I Turned My Vintage Music Obsession Into My Dream Gig.鈥�

It’s a grand reopening, but it’s also a grand reunion 鈥� not just for our talented cast and crew, but also for Postmodern Jukebox and fans of classic, 鈥極ld School鈥� entertainment.鈥�
Tickets are $30-$40 for adults and $10 for students. Discounts are available for seniors, UCA alumni and others in the UCA community.
